Improving Healthcare Through the Development of Out-of-Hospital Medicine

In a recent interview with Medinlux, Dr. Schmit and Dr. Steichen emphasized the crucial role of digitalization in healthcare, benefiting both professionals and patients.

They also highlighted the challenges posed by overly restrictive planning, which limits access to medical imaging, digestive endoscopy, and consultations with numerous specialists.

Their proposed solution? A more balanced approach between supply and demand, aimed at improving access to care while keeping costs under control.

“This is why we believe a compromise must be found—ensuring that health insurance is not overburdened while allowing diagnostic and therapeutic measures to take place outside of hospitals, ultimately benefiting the patient.”

For them, the patient must remain at the center of healthcare decisions, and physicians’ professional freedom is essential to guaranteeing optimal care.
