Cold symptoms have no place in the emergency department!

Cold Season in Full Swing! Flu cases have surged by 80% in just one week, RSV infections by 36%, and COVID-19 cases are also on the rise, according to the Health Directorate.

🩺  Emergency or General Practitioner?
Dr Sebastien Diederich reminds us: Not every cold requires an emergency visit!

Cold and flu symptoms rarely require immediate medical attention. If symptoms persist for several days, it is advisable to consult your general practitioner. A visit to the emergency department is unnecessary in such cases—emergency services should be reserved for genuine medical emergencies, ensuring resources remain available for critical cases.

💉 Essential Prevention:

  • Flu vaccination for high-risk groups (elderly, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses).
  • Strict hygiene: handwashing, disinfectants, and avoiding contact with others if you’re unwell.

Stay healthy and protect yourself and those around you!
